When people talk about having a phobia of a specific object such as snakes, spiders or needles, they are referring to a specific phobia.

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder that causes an individual to experience extreme, irrational fear about a situation, living creature, place, or object.

Understanding Anxiety

For many of us, anxiety is a nameless dread, so it's essential to investigate what's triggering our fears.

The following lesson looks at anxiety and ways to reduce and understand this condition.
